Energy stealers - 2

Hi Folks !

I am back from a Past Life Regression Therapist's Workshop, two weddings, 4 wedding receptions, 3 days with wonderful old friends who had come from very far to attend one of the weddings and lots of nostalgia !

Come to think of it, these past couple of months have been all about reconnecting with past and forging new bonds through newly made relations.

I feel richer for the experience !

Now, its time to get back to work and routine. And that feels good too !

I had mentioned in a post 2 about 2 months ago that a few more classifications could be made to identify the Stealers of our Energy. Awareness is the first step to prevention, isn't it ?

Do you remember the types we discussed in an earlier post ?

Lets have a quick recap.

THE INTIMIDATORS -

They force everyone to pay attention to them by being loud, sarcastic and authoritative.
They love to be known as being inflexible and egocentric and believe these epithets to be compliments.
People fear that they will create a scene and are always anxious and afraid around them.
It is not always the old grandpas or dads or aunts who behave this way because life treated them badly.
It is they who revel in this percieved power over others and steal energy from those whom they intimidate.

THE INTERROGATORS -

They kind of hold inquisitions on even the most insignificant of topics and will catch you out. They are critical, cynical, manipulative , will harp on your faults and mistakes , remember every misdeed of yours and make you feel small.

POOR ME -

It is INTIMIDATORS who create the POOR-MEs.
It is an unconscious survival tactic learnt instantly.
The POOR-MEs will be pessimistic, worry over everything that is not in their control, have tears ready to flow at the remotest threat to them and elicit sympathy from all.
Nothing actually needs to go wrong for them, they become anxious, get overcome by graphically detailed imagined catastrophes and top up their energies from those around.
Then they 'feel better'!

ALOOF -

The INTERROGATORs can take some credit for creating the ALOOFs !
They desperately want attention but pretend to be bored, detached and uninterested, hoping all the time that they will be drawn into the goings-on by someone.
They may come across as sneaky, condescending and pass themselves off as great intellectuals who dont really like to mix, you know, but -aah !
One has to!
Actually, they desperately want to!

Each one of us has to think back to our own behaviour and decide honestly for ourselves as to which one we are.

We steal energy from others by being one of these because the others are also stealing our energy by being one of the these !

These four are the - kind of forceful, negative traits which are easy to identify.

There could be a few more added to the list, traits which start out as positive qualities but slide into energy-stealing, traits one should atleast be aware of.

THE OVERDOERS -

These people will be everywhere, in all the tasks, mundane to important and even wrest charge when it is not required for them to do so.

They give commands, unasked and unwanted suggestions and muddy the atmosphere by bulldozing their way even after repeatedly asked not to do so.

They feel it is their duty to either do everything according to their own standards or personally supervise every step with detailed instructions exasperating others.

They have no trust in someone else's abilities and find it impossible to give up the sense of power that this interferance gives them.

Basically, these are the people who dont know when to STOP. Have you come across them?

What could be the reason for this kind of Energy Stealing ?
Usually, it is one of the two - Ego or Fear.

A deeply hidden conviction that nobody is as good as them.

Or fear that someone may actually be!

They steal energy not in short bursts but in a continuous stream which is most frustrating to others.

By not allowing others to work at their own pace or choice, they also kill their creativity, sense of achievement and empowerment.

Then they love their power of being the only ones to do any work with finesse - or whatever they may, sometimes self-effacingly claim.

THE INTERRUPTERS -

Dont we all know them ?!

Someone stars to tell a joke or a story and this character interrupts with a snide remark, the end of the joke when it is still halfway or a guffaw or even a wink.

Or it is a question.

An unnecessary one.

Anything to divert the attention from someone else.

They dont always want it focussed on themselves too, would probably wilt under the pressure, but what they can't stand is for the limelight to be on others.

The cause is jealousy, of efforts spent more on this activity than on acquiring a skill or knowledge or acceptance of one's limitations.

Look in the mirror.

Which one are you ?

Meditate. .Go back to the earlier post for basics and practise regularly.

Stop stealing and stop being stolen from.

Any more types you can come up with ?

Do share.

Wishing you a peaceful and contented Christmas and a New Year of Awareness and Equanimity.

Dear Shubaji,

First let me start by wishing you and your family a very Peaceful and Wisdom filled Happy New Year 2009. I hope that you would continue to guide us more profoundly, now that you have completed the Past Life Regression course.

Now regarding the post on energy stealers. As you have pointed out different categories, we come across all these types in daily life, but the thing is we dont realize when these start stealing your energy. We come to know about this only after a long time, and after many tons of our energy is exhausted. So as you rightly said, we should be beware and be awake for every moment, so that we can recognize such people immediately.

Apart from these types, I am facing some different problem, and would like you to guide me in this regard.
The problem is that whenever I start some good thing, something happens and it gets discontinued. For eg. a few months back I started doing meditation. It went well for about a month. I was able to sit for 30 mins at a stretch. But then something happened and it got discontinued. I tried a lot after that to start again, but it has not started as yet. Same also with daily exercise. With much determination, I started doing exercise from this Diwali. But after about 15-20 days, due to some treatment I am undergoing, the Doctor asked me to stop exercise for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks the treatment was over, but I wasnt able to start the exercise.
It happens many times in my life. And I dont think its sheer laziness on my part, coz if that would have been the case, I would have been lazy for all other activities too, but its not the case. So does that mean that some forces are trying to stop me doing these good activities ? May be some type of energy stealers ? Or its just my mind playing things ?
It would be helpful if you shed some light on this.

Thanks and Regards
Mandar
