The Little Prince -2

Hi Folks -

How's Life?!

It should be different every day!

Since reading the last post, quite a few people have discovered that they already have 'The Little Prince' sitting on their shelves but have not got around to reading it!

It has to be read, and like the fox says in the book, ' with the heart, because anything precious is invisible to the eyes!'

Lets come to the comments-!

Ranjana says, - 'In the material world, an adult cannot remain innocent and pure unless he renounces the material world.

He needs to become a rat and compete for limited resources. ............ try to get the best for his family and here the innocence doesn't help.'

Well -

There is only one world, the same for adults and children.
It's how you look at it, your own unique reactions to it that are different.

There are adults who are - well, children might get offended if these people were called 'childish'!

And there are children who are mature way beyond their years.

Now 'innocent' is not naive, or dim-witted.

If one chalks out a plan for one's life which is wholesome, develops qualities like ethics, integrity and courage it does not necessarily have to be a life-time of failure and poverty.

If one believes that the resources are limited, then one will turn oneself into a rat out of choice and will keep running until one keels over with no sense of satisfaction at what one has achieved.

Should one live out of Poverty-Consciousness or come from Abundance?

But if one decides to become aware of what one wants to be, where one wants to go, those choices will determine one's course of behaviour.

In the book, the Prince's innocence is because of his lack of exposure to other people/beings/worlds.

We do that all the time too.

We become familiar with certain people, cling to them, in turn, are irritated and fearful they will leave, don't really know why we do many things that we do out of habit or because someone else does it/ it's the done thing/will look good etc.

The Little Prince spent a year away from his home, on earth, seeking answers and learning his lessons with a completely open mind .

Not many adults do that - and having understood his responsibilities, he goes back home to tend to his Rose whom he loves.

Mitali says, - ' its all about seeing things differently. Ultimately he has to go back as one cannot function in a permanent state of imagination and innocence and he also needs the metaphoric evil to get him home'.

You got it right, the book is about different perceptions.

Adults will see a hat as a hat whereas another child may have made up another story too.

The Little Prince had not come to the Earth for a permanent stay.

He had questions, was curious, his thoughts were still with his home and his rose too.

And when he got answers that satisfied him, he did not want to stay and stagnate.

He was courageous enough to take the help of the metaphoric evil - the snake, and go home.

Leave alone death which many are afraid of, but how many of us have the courage to move on?

He did not hide that he was a little afraid - but he acted on his new-found wisdom.

Oh dear ! How many of us do that?!

Even when change is for the better, we resist it for a long time simply because it is too much of a bother.

Many times, we don't even think deeply about issues - just gloss over and carry on-

When we carry on like this, all the baggage also goes with us.

When we move on after thinking deeply, we go wiser.

Do read the book over 1-2 sittings.

Enjoy it!

Kshamata has written to suggest that those who liked The Little Prince should read ' The Tale Of The Rose', written by Saint Exupery's wife Counselo - who is the Rose of The Little Prince!

Thanks kshamata - I am going to!

Google the book, you will get a wealth of insights from what people have taken from it.

Are you doing the Ho'oponopono ?

Do it regularly for a few weeks for whoever or whatever comes in your awareness.

You can do it for general peace and kindness for Mother Earth too.

Some people have got very nice experiences.

Spring is around the corner -

Enjoy!
