Hi Folks !
I am off to Igatpuri for a 10 - day Vipassana course.
I had applied a couple of months ago when Guruji was ill but alive.
Now it will be specially to pay heartfelt, loving gratitude to him.
He passed on the Buddha's meditation to everyone in its purest form with utmost reverence for him, for the technique of Vipassana and for his own teacher Sayagyi U Ba Khin.
Now I don't just believe, but know exactly how to stop sowing seeds of new karma when I am undergoing the fruits of my past karma.
It is by practicing the technique regularly, by remaining aware and equanimous.
I feel empowered to weather any cyclone which comes my way, and in the last few years some have too, but I did not collapse, did not go to pieces.
I could stand strong and take control.
Vipassana has taught me to let go calmly, peacefully.
It allows others to be what they are, without burdening them with my baggage.
And my baggage?
It's going - going - !
Go sit a 10 - day course any where in the world without any more delay to feel the exhilaration later.
Lets look at some interesting case from some of the PLR Sessions.
One gentleman wanted to know why he had turned to writing since his youth.
He was from the science stream and was more into logical reasoning and proofs and results.
Emotions were so unpredictable, what was he doing, writing books after books of short stories and novels?!
They were liked too, and he wasn't really complaining, but - just curious !
He went into a past life when he had painted some very nice pictures.
Unfortunately, nobody really understood or appreciated his water colours of nature and he had no one to share them with or talk about paints and shades.
He missed the fraternity and in this life, chose writing which has given him a platform that he had desired.
He is well known, respected, gives talks and appreciates others too.
Isn't that nice?!
A young man came to find out why his father who was in his late 70s was suffering from forgetfulness and would he be able to complete his life's work?
He had done deep research and developed a yogic system which would have benefitted multitudes.
Very little work remained to be completed but he could not remember anything which was older than 3 years!
He went to his father's past life when he had been a very, very learned man with powers to heal with the mere touch of his hand.
He was also very arrogant and short tempered.
He had knowledge but no humility and was unable to sift genuine students from hangers on who used their proximity to him for their own comforts.
One day in a fit of anger, he left everything, went to the forest and stayed in a hut near a river spending time in meditation.
He regretted his earlier behaviour but was repeating the same habit pattern in his current life too.
The same sweet talkers were around, and when we spoke to his current consciousness, he refused to complete the work because he was not ready to share it with others.
He still wanted to be the only one with healing powers.
The young man had been a student in that past life, a genuine one who also did not like what was happening to his Teacher.
His task in this life is to take whatever has been completed, which is still quite a bit, to people.
To create a big institute and teach.
Also, to control his own anger and excessive emotionalism.
Wonderful, isn't it?
He got his own life's purpose too.
You and I and every one of us are here because of a contract we made after a lot of thought and planning.
It was to play this game of life, learn and unlearn, experience and enjoy.
Dump your sadness, your martyr's halo.
Enjoy the lightness of being.
I shall send you all my loving joy at the end of the course.
Bye for now -
