Closing the year -

Hi Folks !

How's life ?!

I had the most marvellous month from 12th November to 12th December and let me first tell you a bit about it -

The first 10 days, I was with old friends and family, catching up and talking of old, old memories.
There was a Reunion and the theme was Nostalgia!

Then I went to New Delhi.
This time, I had a proper agenda !

I wanted to visit all the Moghul monuments and managed to do quite a few.
The Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb, The old Fort, The Red Fort and the Chandani Chowk!

The Qutub and the Red Fort have Audio guides and I suggest any of you wanting to see these places should take this facility.

The Old Fort was quite an eye - opener as I wasn't aware of it's existence.
Shame on me !

I also went to Dilli Haat, pigged out and generally had loads of fun.

Then came my most eagerly awaited Trip of a Lifetime !

I joined 7 of my friends and we started our Buddhist Circuit from Varanasi.

In the next 10 days, we visited Sarnath where he gave his first Sermon, Bodh Gaya where he attained enlightenment, Rajgir where he stayed during many Monsoons, Nalanda with extensive and well kept excavations of it's mind - boggling ancient University, Lumbini where he was born, Shravasti where he spent 24 long years teaching the technique, giving discourses and Kushinagar where he left his body .

In Bodh Gaya, the Annual Tipitaka Chanting Week was to start 2 days later and there were hundreds of followers from Myanmar, Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and so on.

They were decorating the whole Mahabodhi Temple complex with flowers and silk and fruits and the atmosphere was quiet and enchanting.

We meditated in the evening and from 5 am the next day. It is an immensely powerful place with wonderful vibrations.

Kushinagar was another place, the hall where he died has a huge reclining statue and again, it is a place of lot of meditation and groups of devotees who had come from other countries would chant for a while, meditate and make place for others.

Shravasti has Jetvana which has remains of The Buddha's 'Mulagandha Kuti', foundations of his hut and it's vibrations are truly indescribable.

We finished in Lucknow and I stayed back for some sessions.

There, I visited the Imambadas, The Residency and many other places but for me, there was another pilgrimage to undertake.

I went to the tomb of Begum Akhtar and paid deep, deep respects to her.

Her voice, her Ghazals can be heard on YouTube and try them out, some time.

Have you been on a road trip like this?

Do it !
Decide it is going to be fun and it will be !

Give deep gratitude to anything bad happening on the way, like delays or the rooms not being as shown on the net etc, as something you are glad to leave behind, as henceforth, only good will happen !

This is my attitude and it works for me.

You will discover new facets of the same old you and discover you are quite okay, after all!

This happens to be the last post of this year and let's do what we have been since the last few year - ends.

Let's do a Closure and get ready for the New Year.

Imagine your self standing in a calm, serene place.
In front of you, there is a huge plastic bag on a table, about 10 steps away.

Walk towards it, extend your hands so that your down turned palms are over the open mouth of the plastic bag and let off a sigh !
Smile!
Close your eyes.

Whatever your age, working backwards, say that all that is negative, sad, bad, depressing, cruel, lonely from the last 5 years, is now melting, dissolving and flowing into the bag through your hands.
Images may come up, ignore them.

Will the negativity to get out of each and every cell of each and every part of your body.

Continue till you have reached your moment of conception and cleanse it all.
Take back your hands and take a deep breath.
Extend your right hand, you will be handed a burning torch.

Take it, thank your spirit friend and put it right into the bag.

Flames will go up in a whoosh and all that rotten stuff will burn down.

Blow hard on the small piles of ash and see it fly beyond the horizon, turning into pink energy or stardust.

Let this stuff vanish and see another table in front of you which has a huge golden bowl on it.

Again, extend your hands and let all that is positive, wonderful, loving, encouraging, enhancing, empowering flow into the golden bowl.

From this moment to your conception.

You should feel practically empty inside, now.

Now pick this bowl up and holding your hands high on your head, turn it upside down.

Let all the goodness, all that is wonderful flow over and inside you, filling up the entire vacuum.

In the end, the gold bowl will also melt and rain down on you as blessing.

Stay quiet for a moment and send up your gratitude, your love and thanks to whoever comes to your mind.

Now you are ready for the new year with a clear conscience and loads of excitement and joy.

You get what you desire.

You create by wishing and energizing it.

So create happiness, strength and love.

Then pass it around and share it so that it multiplies.

My best wishes to all of you, have a great year - end and a wonderful new year.

Love -
