Hi Folks !
How are you doing?!
I have been gallivanting!
The year began on a wonderful note with my Pali course in Jan - Feb.
Then, in March, I went off on a road trip to South India with a group of friends.
We went to Coorg for 3 days, and then on to Coastal Karnataka.
The coffee plantations were absolutely wonderful and that land is proud of its martial heritage too.
The people are well-off with nice, traditional houses, and entire Coorg - villages, plantations, temples, towns - is clean and stylish.
We bought loads of fresh spices and lots of home-made chocolates.
Every 3rd shop sells these!
There are lots of boards announcing home-stays and we checked out a couple of them - very reasonable, very clean with local cuisine thrown in too.
Next time, I might take off by myself.
It is quite, quite safe.
I took 2 days to do 3 loads of washing and then took off to Bangalore!
I went to Kodaikanal all by myself for 3 days.
It is a beautiful hill-station in the Palani Hills of Tamil Nadu and I was visiting it after many years !
The lake, the innumerable walks, the forests, the winding roads are still so beautiful !
People are nice too-
Go there, you can choose a place to stay from the internet like I did - and was satisfied.
I was glad to see some other women, Indian women, and young ones, who had come alone and were quite relaxed about travelling alone.
South India is safe and clean and beautiful, anyway, so I think I shall plan somewhere for next year too!
Travelling alone for 4 - 5 days, staying some place on your own responsibility shows you how capable you are - we are usually so hard on ourselves!
After returning, I went to Jindal Naturopathy Institute in Bangalore which I have been visiting since many, many years.
Check it out, read its code of discipline, the therapies and massages and treatments they offer - and GO !
I do so every 2 years
Vipassana cleanses the mind very powerfully, wrings it out to dry !
JNI does the same for our body !
There are Kriyas, Laughter Session, Yoga, Mud and Eye packs, water treatments and various massages, eye -care, swimming, a gym, long (or short !) walks around their orchards and vegetable fields and I am sure I must have forgotten something!
Yes!
Physiotherapy and acupuncture at their attached hospital next door!
The whole campus - all 85 acres is spic and span and maintained clean with military precision.
The staff is very courteous.
JNI grows its own veggies and fruits organically and does not charge for it.
The rooms are pretty okay with a TV in each to catch up on Election news or cricket !
Check out on the net.
The whole day flows very busily and smoothly and I always come out with most of my aches and pains gone, some weight reduced and a lot wiser !
It was a good break, after breaking my head over the grammar charts !
I am back at work, taking many interesting sessions which are truly enriching me in many ways.
Take care, all of you, specially of your health.
